Peer-to-peer tool hire across Australia

Tooly is a marketplace for hiring tools, trailers, plant and equipment from people nearby. Neighbours, mates and local operators list idle gear. You search a suburb, request dates, and pick it up after the owner accepts. Same account can hire and list. Payments go through Stripe. The street stays private until then.

Big-box hire shops are fine when you need a fleet. Most jobs need one machine for a weekend. Tooly is for that job — a trailer in Marrickville, a mini excavator on the Gold Coast, a pressure washer in Fremantle.

How it works

1. Search the suburb Find a trailer, welder, excavator or mower near the job.
2. Request the dates The owner accepts. Chat and pickup street open after that.
3. Pay on Tooly Stripe holds the hire. Commission comes from the owner payout. No lead fee.

Owners connect Stripe payouts from the account console before a hirer can pay. Stripe collects identity and bank details — you do not need a Stripe shop of your own first.

What is Tooly?

A peer-to-peer hire marketplace for tools, equipment, trailers and heavy machinery. You deal with the owner. Tooly is the marketplace — we are not a party to the hire and we are not an insurer.

Can I hire and list with the same account?

Yes. One signed-in account can hire gear and list gear. There is no separate supplier signup.

Why is only the suburb shown?

Public pages show suburb and an approximate pin so people cannot rock up from the map. The exact street is shared after the owner accepts.

How do I get paid as an owner?

Connect Stripe payouts from your account. Hirers pay on Tooly. Commission comes off the hire by plan; the rest goes to your connected bank account. If Stripe is not connected, the hirer cannot pay.

How does Tooly handle payment security?

When the marketplace is live, the site uses HTTPS (TLS 1.2 or newer). Listing data is stored in a dedicated AWS account in Sydney, encrypted at rest. Hire payments go through Stripe. Card numbers stay with Stripe — Stripe is a PCI DSS Level 1 payment provider. Tooly does not store card details and is not separately PCI certified.

Is the gear insured?

No. Tooly is not an insurer and does not sell hire insurance. You and the owner are responsible for the gear and any cover you need.
